Repository of Codes of ethics, guidelines, best practices, and standards

The Repository of codes of ethics, guidelines, best practices, and standards collects the main documents devoted to the topic of the prevention of crimes and illicit conduct in the art and antiquities market, elaborated by public and private institutions and by stakeholders in order to minimize the risk of commission of illicit behaviours.

This database gathers codes of ethics, codes of conduct, best practices, due diligence procedures, policies, and guidelines as well as the most relevant international Conventions on cultural heritage protection. Among other issues, these documents deal with provenance, acquisitions, anti-money laundering, restitutions, and due diligence procedures.

The Repository has three sections:

• Institutions: contains Conventions, statements, and codes of conduct provided for international and national public institutions;
• Museums: contains policies and codes of ethics elaborated by museums;
• Stakeholders: contains standards, codes of ethics, and due diligence procedures elaborated by private actors.

In these sections, the database is in alphabetic order by author.
